on an E2 visa, my current contract expires the last week of July this year, I want to start working for a new employer in late August/early September.

questions, 1) Can I renew my current visa, and 2) will I need to get a fresh CBC from the FBI and/or a new apostille for my degree...? Thanks

1) No, but yes/maybe.

You can't "renew" your current visa.
You can "extend" your current status of sojourn PROVIDED you can find a new employer and transfer your sponsorship to them before your current ARC expires.

Another option is to do a change of status from E2 to D10 at the end of your contract. This will allow you to keep your status of sojourn constant, stay in the country for up to 6 months, find new work and change back to an E2 WITHOUT the need for new "paperwork" (CBC and apostilles).

2) No, PROVIDED you are not changing to a public school.

Immigration will not require them from you.
The MOE will not require new ones from your.

Your new employer however CAN ask (as a requirement of employment) that you produce a new set. (The usual case when moving to a PS job).

Thanks. Interesting, this D10 thing, I hadn't even heard of that.

Too bad about the public schools, and strange that they would require those documents if Immi doesn't care. I was thinking of getting a public afterschool job, so I guess I'd better start all that rigmarole again.
