I want to quit my job early. I am on an E-2 visa, but it is a part time job. I got it to cover living expenses while I finished up some distance academic work. I don't want to deal with moving before finishing my academic year, but I don't want to work at all for the last 2 months or so that I am here.
Is it okay to quit my job and stay here for a couple months without a working visa? AND Will that affect my pension payout at all when I do leave? (or any of my banking stuff) |

Just switch to a D-10. Gives you up to 6 months and no worry.

Sorry to redirect your thread, but it seems pretty much answered above.
I didn't know foreigners could get an E-2 for part time work. I thought all part time work had to be done my people with marriage visas or Korean-Americans. So some places sponsor E-2 visas for part time work? Sounds like what I need. |

If your boss reports that your job has finished, you can stay for up to 30 days if you register or 14 if you don't. You can also make a short day trip to Japan and then return here as a tourist (3 months for most people, 6 months for Canadians).
If your boss is ok with everything, he could write you a LOR and you could apply for a D10 visa. But, no LOR = no D10.

There is no minimum number of hours per week that you need to work in order to get an E2 visa. If you're working for a hogwon, it's all a matter of what you negotiate. |
