I saw somewhere that a course that is not certified in a certain way doesn't count when applying for EPIK and GEPIK? Is that true? |

The only requirement I'm aware of is that it needs to include a certain number of hours where you're actually in class. I think it's 20?
As far as certification of the institution, there isn't really a body governing who can teach TEFL/TESL, or grant the certificates (that I know of), so I don't think that requirement exists. (Whether a TESOL/CELTA cert, being affiliated with a prestigious institution, gives you a leg up behind the scenes...I honestly doubt the coordinators/teachers reviewing resumes differentiate between them much if at all. Your picture probably receives greater consideration.)
You SHOULD google the shit out of it though. Given that there's a distinct lack of oversight, there's a lot of places that take advantage of people. Do your research! |

There is NO certifying body for TEFL/TESOL/TESL courses.
For Korean PS jobs the requirements are:
- 100 hours or more
- 20 hours of the program must be "in class" (compared to on-line).
- - - 60 hours "in class" for Busan PS jobs.
NOT needed if you already qualify for level 2 or 2+ by virtue of other credentials (B.Ed, PGCE, QTS, Master's degree) or experience.
