Just curious if anyone (ttompatz) knows how much it costs a school to sponsor an E2 visa? Is it like a monthly fee they pay? Just curious.

There is no fee other than the 60~$ to apply for the visa and the processing fees which would total under 100$

There is NO fee attached to getting the visa confirmation number.

There is a fee attached to getting the visa at the embassy (usually paid by the teacher).

There is NO OTHER FEE paid to immigration or any other government agency by the school for hiring a foreign teacher.

Recruiters do charge a fee and the teacher should NEVER (even if you quit early) be held responsible for this fee.
(if you bail early then it is the recruiter who is responsible to the school to find a replacement at the recruiter's expense - not the teacher/applicant).

As mentioned, it costs the employer relatively nothing to do the paper for your visa. The main costs are the recruiter, the flight over and the key money (like a deposit) for the apartment they'll be renting for you.

Recruiter fees generally range from 1 to 1.5 million Won. That might be paid out as lump sum, might be in installations over as much s 6 months. It varies a lot.

Flights. You'll probably be given a one way ticket to Korea. You can check online to see how much those cost. It all depends on your location.

Key money. Not so much of an issue because they get it back. The bigger issue there would be if you leave early and they have to pay a penalty for ending the rental contract early.
