They have (and will) learn nothing from the Sewol. To them it was exclusively a matter of safety in "the shipping industry". They will never get the bigger picture that safety is everyone's business. Since the Sewol horror we have had a train crash, a fire at a bus terminal, and now a hospital fire killing twenty-one. All these things are linked...as are cars flying through red lights ten thousand times a day. The culture here needs to change, but I won't hold my breath.
Another terribly sad story that was one hundred percent preventable. |

Well, we should wait and see what details emerge.
All the safety regulations in the world won't neccessarily stop someone who is hellbent on commiting arson, since an arsonist, by definintion, is deliberately trying to be unsafe.
Possibly better regulations could have led to more people surviving the fire. Like I say, wait and see. |
