The **** is going on lately?
Or was it always as common and it's just hyper safety awareness post-Sewol? |

Theory 1: Chris Christie AIN"T HAPPY! The monster destrying the Goldengate bridge should've been him, not that Obamazilla. Hell knows no fury of a attention-hog scorned! However, he's taking it surprisinngly calm, only torturing some Koreans no one cares about i.e. commuters.
Theory 2: The elections are on 4th of June. My guess is that somebody needs a scandal a la Republican's Benghazi to shift the momentum and/or something to talk about after losing and/or write dozens of books later.
Theory 3: North Koreans are building more invasion tunnels.

It's hyper-safety awareness. In a country of 50 million, there will be incidents every single day.
I once had a chat with a bus driver acquaintance back in my hometown way back. Although, it was more about crime, not safety. Supposedly there is a bus hold-up every few days (as in the bus driver getting robbed while on duty). But the city rarely releases this information because they fear it would only encourage more people to try it, and scare off people from taking public transit. I dread to think the number of 'minor' safety issues they have. |

That hospital fire that killed 20 in SK made the U.S. national news this morning. Someone is apparently 'under investigation'. |

There are incidents of fires and the like on the news quite often, but it's usually a norae bong or villa that catches fire and no one gets seriously hurt.
These recent fires and subway problems have been a little to a lot more serious than that. And then if it turns out to be true the residents in the nursing home were restrained then it's more than just a fire. |

Korea can do all the safety checks needed, but it can't stop crazies like the elderly man who started the fire unless it gets serious about mental illness and stops pretending that such illness doesn't exist.
