Hi.
Looking for somewhere to buy odor eaters. i.e. in-soles that you put in your shoes to take away the odor. Have a couple of pairs of trainers and shoes that don't smell very well after the summer heat. Don't want to spend money on buying new shoes when I can just get in-soles for the ones I have.
In Europe we call them Odor-eaters or in-soles. Not sure what you call them in US or Canada.
But if anyone can tell me where you can get them, that'd be great.
I'm in Seoul (east).
Thanks. |

You can get insoles at home-plus or lotte-mart. Not sure about the specific brand, "odor eaters".
To get rid of the smell and freshen them up, just sprinkle a teaspoon of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) in them when you take them off for the day. (available in the veggie section of any supermarket).

Hey Tom,
Thanks for that. Really helpful. I asked in Homeplus before and they said they didn't have them.
What section have you seen them in Homeplus? Any idea what the Korean for in-sole is?!
And does the baking soda thing really work?
Thanks a lot for you help. |

Got my insoles at the cheapo houseware / junk stuff section of the store (they weren't where I expected them to be).
Most shoe stores will have them too (they use them to make big shoes fit).
I don't know what they are called in Korean but if you use body language they will figure it out (show slipping your hand into a shoe and point to the insole).
Yes, soda really does work but it is not a one-time thing. Sprinkle a bit every evening and in a few days they are fresh and sweet again (even if you are wearing them every day).
Another alternative is to get a can of Lysol disinfectant spray and give a quick squirt of that (picked my last can at lotte-mart in Seohyun.

thanks again Tom.
Just to confirm. These in-soles that you say one can get in Hp/Lm...are they just for comfort or do they kill odor as well?
Thanks very much. |

Both kinds were there.
I have seen Dr. Schols at some of the pharmacies in Seohyun as well.

I'm sure you've tried airing them out so if that doesn't help any try spraying them with febreeze or something to cover the smell. If they still reek, abatix.com has some odor killer you might try. Here's a link to the product page: ["http://www.abatix.com/default.aspx?page=item+detail&itemcode=UNS433502000" Unsoot #1 Encapsulant 4GL/Case] |
