My favorite thing about Korea is hiking in some of the beautiful mountains.
I've checked out some of the mountains in Seoul. Now I'm interested in doing some hiking in/near Yongin.
Any suggestions for nice mountains/locations to hike in/near Yongin?
Thanks in advance. |

There are a few nice little trails around Kangnam University, but IMO the major hiking areas are towards the south of Yongin and Everland.
However without a car they are tricky to access. |

The Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Yongin campus is surrounded by mountains. At the university gate you can not enter, head up to the right on the road, and you'll see the start of a path; it heads up and then goes almost to Yongin City Hall.
Go all the way into the university and where the road is finally blocked there's a new winding road/paved path that goes about 5 km into the mountains and then becomes a trail that joins the one, above.
Or, from the same end-of-car-road place in the university, take the trail that is right there up and to the left--this trail goes to Gwangju.
Most of these trails have the virtue (if you think it a virtue) of being almost entirely empty most days of the week. And taking you up to 550m. |
