I thought I would make a general prep. thread as I get this endeavour going. I know alot of little questions will pop up, and I don't want to flood the board. If I'm missing anything, please let me know. I haven't applied anywhere yet.
Recruiters:
Gone2Korea.com
ASK-NOW
AppleTree
ESL planet
Job prep checklist:
Passport (check)
Bachelors degree (check)
Sealed transcripts
Criminal record check
Teacher pic
7 passport photos
updated resume
Interview questions
Letters of recommendation/references
How early should I start applying, probably after I have my criminal record check right? I graduated from university last year, working an alright job, but would sincerely regret not going abroad to teach English. Any recommendations for preparing English classes? I would like to teacher younger classes preferably. Older students may be a handful for an amateur. Also, roughly how much money should I bring? I have about $1100 set aside and can probably set aside roughly $300 per paycheque, but I really want to get moving.
Oh, also if anyone has any recommendations for gyms with weight rooms or somewhere to go for Mass (Catholic), that would be awesome, but I guess that depends where I go.
Thanks |

2,000$ would be min I would bring (along with a credit card to book a flight if need be)
Other stuff is all dependant on the area you live |

Remember that it has to be an FBI nationwide check. I know that some people continue to think its just a statewide. Also getting a gym to fit your needs depends on your needs. For myself Im 5'10'' and 180 but I dont use large weights, i do smaller sets with 5. 10. 15kg dumbells. Most gyms dont get super high in weights, so just check around when you arrive. One of the good things is that if you are looking just for a gym and not spa/fitness classes etc, it will be rather cheap (i pay 360 dollars for 1 year).
Good luck |

Thanks, I'm actually coming in from Canada. There's a police station nearby, so maybe I'll just drop by and see about it. I'm about your height, but power lifting, heavy squats, deadlifts etc. Beggers can't be choosers, at least I know there's some affordable stuff out there. |
