Hi,
I'm confused about the status of my phone.
I am out of contract now and I am going back to the US soon. I think the person at the Olleh shop was telling me that because my contract is finished my phone is unlocked. Is that right? I thought I had to pay them extra to unlock it or at least they had to do something to my phone.
If I take my Korean iPhone 4 (not S) to the States, will I be able to just stick in a SIM card from another network and have everything work fine?

Do a google search of your phone's model number against US carriers and international unlock.. Every model iphone is handled differently by different carriers. Some carriers wont be able to provide service for Facetime for some phone models for example.
You will first have to pay for an international unlock of your phone, probably through a third party, and then find a US carrier that will be equipped to offer full service such as Facetime. That can all be searched online with your phone's model number. |

| I did this last year with an iphone 4. Go to a olleh shop and they will unlock it, I think it cost a man won. I'm quite sure there was a procedure to unlock, so I wouldn't bet on the info you currently have. |
