It would have to get a lot worse before we reached even the ethnic strife so common in the US, still quite a way to go before a race war.
The demonization of immigrants is at the heart of it which is why the economic and demographic facts about immigration needs to be made part of the national curriculum. |

The tone of your post suggests otherwise. You're practically rubbing your hands with glee at the thought of there being trouble.

Another silly post from the world of lucas.
One incident and he proclaims there to be "race wars" |

Agreed. I sometimes hear how the white race is going to go extinct. Oh, it may happen via mixing with other races, but people seem to forget that we are all human beings, one single race.
At other times, I hear how people talk about blond people and how they are about to go extinct - (darker characteristics are more dominant).
Oh, it's all rubbish, but as people get dumber (and they certainly are), the more real the fear will become - and then we'll have a new Hitler on our hands with a whole new ethnic cleansing scheme.
Alas, let's talk about something more positive. Do you like kimchi? @@ |

Two very BIG incidents in two countries who are tinderboxes with regards to immi!
I REALLY do hope i'm wrong, conflict is bad for everyone!
I don't know/care where you are from, but if you cannot see (educate yourself) to understand that LOTS of EU countries really are not that far off from fighting in the streets (areas of, of course - not all)
http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2013/nov/15/sheffield-page-hall-roma-slovakia-immigration
Almost all of the large EU countries with NET immi, have lurched to the right in the last few years/months.

You took one incident- the attack on one white boy by other white boys in Paris- and then went into race war hysteria.
the boy was attcked because he was suspected of thieving from a house. Not because of his ethnic background.

The Roma have existed in europe since the 12th century, they did not suddenly emigrate there. There has always been an element of friction with gypsies, its nothing new.

...because of high unemployment. Not because of the ancient arrival of gypsies. |

I think you're missing the point - it only takes one 'spark' to set off major violence.

I really do not understand why "race" is still used. Well, I have an idea, which is to perhaps, create division amongst the ranks.
Has it not been proven by both science and anthropology that "race" is merely a social construct? The issues, from my undertanding, are simply ethnic and cultural divides.
Are some better then others, in terms of behavior and geography?
THAT, is a question to ruminate over. |

Well yes and no. But yes, the differences are fairly superficial.
Around 60K years ago various tribes of homo sapiens start becoming separated by distance. Being in different environments they start developing different adaptations; blue eyes, white skin, varying brain size, varying genital size (yes I said that), etc. It's all one species but there are slightly different adaptions to the environment. Then suddenly with the industrial revolution traveling long distances in a short period of time becomes possible, and the races are reunited.
But tribes react with fear when encountering neighboring tribes who are different (like when the Europeans encountered the native Americans, and when Koreans encountered the white missionaries). When these encounters happen, people die. See also Amerika experiment. |

Good points...especially giving a nod to geography. In fact, geography is quite honestly, one of the most important factors of rise and fall. Diffusion of information, culture and progress (or regress) is all due to geography and the speed in which something can get from point A to point B...and go from there.
"Race" has been used a weapon, not just now, but for many years. However, the difference being, scholars know that "race theory" has been debunked but yet, social, political and celebrity ideologues (did I spell that right) refuse to accept the science and continue to pander to those who still buy into it.
Check that (edit)...I take back "scholars" knowing or acknowledging this...SOME do, some have. Many areas of academia do not acknowledge this, for whatever reason(s). Though, anthropology is on board with the actual science but yet, sociology has not acknowledged "race" as a social construct. |

But...and not to toot my own horn (I realize I am new) but something needs to be recognized in regards to "race".
Why did over 95% of African Americans vote for Obama...and I though I can speculate, I cannot imagine most actually looked into his past, his voting record, those he surrounded himself with...(I can say the same for all of those who voted for him).
I'm not trying to hijack the thread or use a deflection point...BUT...when it comes to "race" and "race wars"...I believe it is a legitimate narrative. |

But you know what...that same question can be applied to all ethnicities when it comes to voting in the United States...
Again, not to hijack the thread but does Democracy truly embrace the informed voter? On that note, there ARE informed voters that did not vote for Obama, Bush, what have you. But with Obama, those who openly said they did not vote for him, were demonized as "racist".
So, I came back to the point of "race"...nice. |
