I download a few movies from the internet but when I watch them the video is jerky. The audio is fine, but the video stops and starts and eventually becomes gets out of sync with the audio which is real annoying.
Is this because my video card sucks? I don't think it is the quality of the download because it happens on almost any video, from movies to TV shows. |

It could be your video hardware
Make sure you have other applications closed
Also, and this CURED my equivalent issues with videos, is to be sure you reduce the video color depth to at least 16 bit. I had mine at 32 and it would always do that and now with it reduced it's fine
You may also try new codecs, but who knows if that'll fix it
I use the Kazaa Mega Codec Pack ... check yahoo and download and install and see if that helps if the other things don't help |

I forgot to mention that I am also semi-computer-illiterate and I don't really know much about that Compuglobalhypermeganet stuff.
How do I reduce the bit thing? |

On the desktop away from icons, right click, then click on properties (in the menu that pops up)
That takes you to the desktop and VIDEO settings, go to the last tab called SETTINGS and you'll see the options to change video screen size and one for COLORS
Change the color settings, if it asks you to reboot tell it no, that you want to change the settings without rebooting
Try the different combinations and see if it helps at all
If that doesn't help go here http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm and download the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.03 and install and see if it helps as well |

I'm with you snufalufagus...I think it's a codec thing. I have had that happen before...jerky vid and out of sync with the audio....total codec problem. |
