I'm in my late 30's and currently work at an academy. It has been mentioned many time on here how not being a young gun really hurts your chances of landing a decent job. I want to move on from my current job and live in Seoul, but I haven't been getting many bites.
Often you'll see jobs postings popping up on here, facebook groups, and craigslist needing someone asap.
Would this give an older guy a better chance of landing a job in Seoul? Especially since I already live in Korea and don't need a flight? I don't want to take some job outside of Seoul if I don't have to.
Thoughts?

If you're already in Korea and you have a D-10, E2 that can be transferred or documents to get a visa quick, then you have an advantage. You can visit the school, meet teachers, check out the real conditions, and sell yourself. Age isn't that important at most schools, although you will want to look your best. Experience, friendliness, a positive attitude and being in Korea should give you a leg up.

Yeah 42 here (with grey hair too), age thing is overblown here for sure. My boss said he wanted someone with experience. I have a feeling the people who cry ageism may or may not have their image together/dress decently/people skills. The job I have now was that kind of situation, needed someone immediately, and I got it. Its a good deal too in GyeongiDo. Good luck.
