Well, first, I had never heard of this place until about an hour ago, but now I am very curious. I was walking down the street and saw two guys who were passing me. All I noticed was one had a t-shirt that said on it:
MONSTER QUAKE. Then a few minutes later they had turned around and I see that the other one has a t-shirt that says Hollister Ca.
So, I search the internet and it turns out that Hollister, California is a small town of less that 40,000. But, it is very interesting to geologists because three faults come together there. It seems to be a bit of a tourist attraction too. I just wonder if by chance they actually sell T-shirts there that say MONSTER QUAKE and ones that say Hollister Ca.
Maybe those two guys (Korean in early 20's) went on a trip there and got them? It is so strange. And here we have 7/11 full moon coming up!!!!!
The full moon date is also strange. Only on Korean calendars is it 7/11, every place else I have seen (including Japan and they are same time zone) it is 7/12.
In any case, maybe someone here knows about that place and the t-shirts are sold to tourists. I have not had luck finding anything about such t-shirts with my internet searches. |

I doubt they got them from Hollister, CA:

"Even students at Hollister's San Benito High School wonder if they are violating Abercrombie & Fitch's trademark by wearing shirts emblazed with the school nickname, the Hollister Haybalers." |
I went there a few times in the 80s. Nothing special about the place.. white, christian farming town. Friendly people.
A&F/Hollister CEO dude's crazy, btw:

Examples of his strange behavior abound. According to Business Week, at A&F headquarters Jeffries always goes through revolving doors twice, never passes employees on stairwells, parks his Porsche every day at the same angle in the parking lot (keys between the seats, doors unlocked), and has a pair of “lucky shoes” he wears when reading financial reports. |

Thanks for this info.
Based on your two quotes, all I can say is
And because you have been there, I think it would not be a good idea to go there again any time soon. |

But, the one t-shirt said Hollister Ca. Not just Hollister. I have no idea who might have made the one that said MONSTER QUAKE. It is just so strange that I saw these two side by side and then read all the stuff about Earthquakes and that place. I never knew this place existed, it only has a population of about 40,000.
And then we have a poster who has been there several times.
By the way, FriendlyDaegu, are you from California? |

Yes, but left a long, long time ago. Almost 20 years exactly. I'm old.
Curious, though.. Having never heard of Hollister, and seeing it on a t-shirt, what drove you to google it? You're yanking our chains, right? Taking the piss? |

The above was from the op
I figured if I am going to see these two t-shirts side by side, then maybe this place called Hollister Ca. is going to have a MONSTER Quake. So, I searched and.......
Also, I have never googled anything in my life. I yahooed it. |

The average rate of big earthquakes — those larger than magnitude 7 — has been 10 per year since 1979, the study reports. That rate rose to 12.5 per year starting in 1992, and then jumped to 16.7 per year starting in 2010 — a 65 percent increase compared to the rate since 1979. This increase accelerated in the first three months of 2014 to more than double the average since 1979, the researchers report. |

I remember seeing a lot of the preppy guys wearing Hollister CA. shirts. I never questioned if it was a real place. This is interesting information about the quakes. |

I'm guessing the home owners insurance has something about earthquakes in the fine print. |
