PC problems can be pretty daunting to some people- the idea is to help them not scare them away.

iknowxp, do you happen to work in a customer service department or something?

You're right, more details are needed, but kudos to you in picking the worst way to communicate this.

YOU are the idiot for making a comment like tht. Do you want to know what I know about computors? I know how to turn them on and off. Thats all. I asked if some one could tell me how I go about doing this. I have looked up "canon", I have looked up "downloading drivers" and could not find anything about my printer. If you have nothing nice to say, dont say anything. You would be a great friend to have. Thank God I never met you.
Now, for anyone decent out there, I have a canon i320. I had a robbery and my laptop was stolen and a whole lot of disks. They didnt take the printer. I bought a new laptop, and am trying to get the printer to work. I only asked if some one kney how to dowload a driver, I didn't need a sarastic idiot like you to make that comment.

Here you go. Sorry about that person. He/She has issues....

I hope it works for you. Are you running WinXP? This driver is for XP. It's an ".exe" file, so it will install automatically. Post back if it doesn't work.

Sorry to hear about the break-in too. Crying or Very sad

demo...
Thank you so much for your help. but for sone reason it didnt work. I followed the instructions, it looked completed, then I tried printing something, and it said "error". I tried to do it again, then a message came up and said if it was installed, uninstall it and try again. Said go to the "start menu", all programs, but it was not even listed.'Thanks anyway for your help. I really appreciate your kindness. Joanne

Another option: GO to "printers and fax" in the control panel and try "add a new printer"...it will go through some steps and may ask you for the location of the driver...if it does this, then an ".exe" file is of no use. You can try directing the installer to the C/Windows/System folder to see if it can find any of the files that were installed when you ran the ".exe" file I and Bunnymonster linked you to. The installer might want to communicate with the internet to look for a driver...that might work as well. The problem with an ".exe" file, is that it automatically puts the drivers where it thinks they should be...there is no one location you know they will always be.

If you can find a ".zip" file, you can expand that file to where you want it, then direct the installer to that location, guaranteeing a find.

Give this link a try:

http://www.canon-asia.com/supports/RQ.html

There is also some interactive help. I have an HP printer, and I had to do an "online install" to get it working. Basically, this is when you invite HP into your system to install their drivers. It was easy and probably Canon has a similar thing. Check all the buttons and tabs at the site I linked.

Here is an online driver service...I just tried it for you...seems to be ok. No virus or anything.

Also, make sure that you "printspooler" service is set on "Automatic" in the service menu, located at "all programs" menu in the start menu, "administrative tools", then "services"...you will see a long list of services...find "printer spooler" (or something like that) and see if it says "automatic" and "started" or "running". It should be running, but if not, then right click on it and select "start service".

Post back if there is any trouble...

Thank you demo and bunny for your help. However, I get this message "if u have the i320 currently installed on the comp, please uninstall it prior to installation of this new driver". I tried that, and I got "error installing the file".
But the good thing is I found the email address to ask questions, and I emailed them just now.
Thank the 2 of you so much for trying. One problem is that I really know nothing about computors. My friend had been trying to teach me "cut and paste" and she got quite frustrted cause I have trouble even doing that. Some people just have a hard time with computors, and some find them so easy.
Once again, thank you for your kindness. Joanne
