Can anyone give me a quick run-down? I know the laws change a lot. I really just need to know how much time it takes and whether they hold my passport. I will have a window of a few weeks and want to travel outside of Korea.
Also, do I have to transfer the visa BEFORE my current visa is canceled (meaning I would have to be in touch with my current boss about what date he will cancel my visa)?
Thanks for any help. |

A transfer or change of status needs to be done before your current status of sojourn (ARC) expires.
They do NOT keep your passport.
A change of employers takes about 30-60 minutes at the counter and they simply amend your current ARC.
A change of status (ie: E2 to D10) takes a couple of weeks for your new ARC to be returned. This complicates travel outside of Korea.
IF you are leaving a contract early then you will require a LOR.
If it is at the end of your cointract then no worry. (you do have a copy of your contract with the end date indicated, don't you?)

Last time I transferred to D10 I was told not to leave the country until after it was complete and I had my ARC. |

I am going to go in next week to change my employer (for an E-7 visa, but should be similar to E-2). I live a lot closer to immigration than my new school, so I thought I would offer to just do it myself. But as I look over the list of applications on the HiKorea website, none of them seem to be for changing the employer on a series E visa. In fact, none of them seem to be for renewing a series visa at all.
Any idea what application I would need for changing employer on a series E (E-7) visa?
Here's the list of applications on the Hi Korea website:

Thanks, |

It is a single application form with various tick boxes at the top.
Tick - change of status. change of employer and extension of stay.
The rest is just personal information.
Add your documentation (personal (passport, arc, contract, LOR if needed) and documents from the new employer (case specific)).
Done. |
