haha, well they mostly do leave us alone, although if you leave the designated surf-zone and/or wander too close to the swimmers/tubers, they turn into whistle nazis.
i sometimes wonder if the lifeguards genuinely worry about the swimmer's lives or if they're just afraid of getting in the water themselves. |

Learning to surf in Korea, sorry but, ahahahahahahahahahahaha.
The biggest waves I've come across in my 13 years and extensive travel in Korea were what I was catching when I was 4/5 years old. The only time I've seen waves worth surfing a typhoon has been blowing through town.
My 6 year old will be learning to surf, at his bequest, in Australia at the end of the year and he'll be catching bigger waves than there are in Korea.
For someone who grew up surfing there is NO surfing in Korea. That's why I brought my snowboard with me to Korea instead of my surfboard. If I really need a surfing fix, I'd hop over to Japan to catch some waves. Luckily I can escape 5 or 6 times a year to get my fix anyway. Its not Korea's fault though, nature is against her. |

BigBuds is one coooooool cat!
Grew up skiing the Rockies and Whistler. Trails and backcountry...so take it from me ya'll.....don't bother learning to ski/board here. Hills are wayyyy too small. Lol at just the thought of someone wasting their time learning to board here(sarcasm).
I was down in Busan last October and there were loads of guys in the water surfing. Looked like the ideal size waves you would want if you were a beginner. Also looked like a blast. I've never surfed and am thinking of taking a lesson.

there's a small but growing surf culture here made up of hardcore enthusiasts who go on frequent trips out to gold coast/bali/hawaii to catch the good waves.
but as far as beginners go, busan's waves are good enough. plus the water warmed up super fast this year and will stay warm into october.
@obwannabe: here's our website with all of our prices: http://monkeysurf.foredu.kr/?doc=sub_02
we were featured in an article a few years back @ http://busanhaps.com/article/surfing-new-korean-wave
@happiness: it won't come close to the waves you'll get off north shore. waves here will average 1-3 feet.
korea is no bali or australia or hawaii. but if you live in korea and want to surf or learn to surf, it's really not that bad. |
