So I'm curious to see the reaction to the new tourism slogan just announced.

Do you think "Imagine Your Korea" captures the spirit of Korea? Do you think it will make Korea more appealing as a travel and tourism destination?

However, when I imagine Korea, it has a whole lot less corruption, embezzlement, fraud, breach of trust, prostitution, suicide, and 300 dead kids drowned an icy death thanks to neo-confucian bullshit, than the real Korea.

When I imagine my Korea, it's not pissing away taxpayer won on paying people to sit around insisting that making up silly slogans like "Imagine your Korea" will actually increase tourism, especially when accompanied by a logo that looks like it was drawn by one of my less artistically-talented students.

Referring to some of the biggest tourist attractions in Korea, the article said;

"The “stars” also include the Upo Swamp in Changnyeong, South Gyeongsang Province; the Ocean Rail Bike in Samcheok, Gangwon Province; and a cable car in Tongyoung, South Gyeongsang Province".

When a swamp that isnt even a swamp (its more like a very small lake), a cable car and a bike thing are some of your biggest tourist attractions, you need to be a bit more 'creative' with the truth - or in this case, slogan.

One of the "stars" should be the DMZ. I think a lot of people want to go there when they go to Korea.

I agree. Its one of the few, genuine, actual interesting things in Korea.

Korea should stop trying to pretend there is anything remotely spectacular about the country, and instead market what they know - cheap booze and hookers. The infrastructure is already in place after all.

Wasn't there a new slogan just a few months ago? What's the average lifespan of these slogans anyway?

So the slogan should be "Korean: Still Kind Of At War?"

If they want to attract people from outside the soppy soap opera watching community, the DMZ would be the prime asset, I agree all the westerners I've spoken to on the subject have said it was the most interesting part of the trip.

Like a lot of slogans the meaning of this one is not really clear. Are people who haven't been there supposed to imagine what Korea might be like, in which case they're probably going to be disappointed.

haha

I think more fitting would be 'Korean: Bringing the fight to you - everyday!'

Basically the same pitch as Samuel Jackson beer.
"Korea- It'll get ya drunk!".

Korea- Where you can still smoke in peace.

Korea- If you aint here to be fleeced, fed, fd up and just plain fd. Get the eff out.

A little bit (very) off topic, but speaking of pissing away taxes, I was told Ill get a 1.500,000 tax rebate next July.

Seems theyre only wasting most of your taxes.
