A team from Seoul will play a team from Chicago for the LLWS title on Sunday at 3pm est. They beat Japan yesterday 12-3.
Does anyone know if this will be on TV?

| I hope Chicago wins. Not because I have a vented interest in little league, I just like to take out my frustrations about Korea on anything Korean. |

The Korea team looks strong and should probably win. If it looks like the Korean team will win, I hope the US organizers cancel the game, claim victory for Chicago, and send the Korean kids home with nothing.

| That old link from radcon was funny. It was like, "Sure, come and play, but don't win. We are the hosts. This is Korea. Please understand our unique situation." Or maybe there was more to the story. I wonder if the outcome of the LLWS will affect moods there much. That seems to happen for international events. Kinda like how we sports fan all seem to take a win or loss from our team personally even when it's a bunch of millionaires who could change teams any time. Is it a big story there, or not so much because it's just kids? |

It's not a national team. It's one of the teams in Seoul. This is something the media does back home. It used to be something like "Huntington Beach vs. Japan" but people started pointing out that the teams from Japan/Mexico/Taiwon/Puerto Rico were actually city based teams, same as America and that this was basically an attempt by the American media to portray the games as some sort of "small town America" vs. another country's colossus of a team. Pretty disrespectful to the players from non-US countries.
The proper term for this should have been 'Seoul vs. Illinois' or 'Seoul vs. Chicago'. |

Not really. The Tawain team used to completely dominate. They have won 17 times. It was later confirmed that they sent national all star teams. They also sent kids over the age limit. Actually many countries including US teams have sent overage ringers.Taiwan stopped sending teams for a while after the LLWS people said they would start investigating. look at the Chicago team this year. All black kids. This shows that this wasn't even a Chicago city wide all star team. As for the Korea team this year- who knows. |

That's because these teams are "representing" their countries by making it through their region. Anyone who has actually watched a LLWS knows these aren't All-Star teams, they talk about their specific leagues multiple times during each game. Plus how cool would it be to be a little leaguer and get to put your countries name on your jersey? Pretty darn cool IMO. I know if I were a Korean kid I'd rather have "Korea" on my chest instead of "Suwon." Nothing wrong with these teams names and it has nothing to do with the media, give me a break.

It looks like it's done regionally.
On the official site it says: Asia Pacific vs Great Lakes
The US would have more teams then the rest of the world combined so it makes sense that American regions would be broken up into smaller areas, as opposed to the international regions.
Asia Pacific would have been Japan/Taiwan/Korea and maybe China.
Of which Korea won and represented that area.

Well its certainly gotten better. As I said, people started to complain to the American media about that and how it was clearly giving a false portrayal of the nature of the competition to the casual observer.
But yeah, about 10 years ago it would say "Racine, WI vs. Taiwan". Growing up I always thought that's how it was until the issue started to crop up via the internet. |
