Hello all,

I've just arrived in Gumi to begin work at a hagwon, and I was curious about things to do for expats. I'm just kind of wandering around at the moment, trying to get a feel for the place. I've found a few old posts describing popular places to hang out (Waygook Cook etc...) but wanted to know if anyone had more up-to-date information.

So, anyone else currently living in Gumi/the surrounding area? Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you!

I've got a good friend in Gumi who runs a local card game/board game/table top gaming group. He's got a group on Facebook. Just search for Gumi on Facebook.

I lived in Gumi about 11 years ago, so much of what I say may not work so well. But on the main street there are two or three nice cinemas. And on the walking street there are some good restaurants, especially a pizza place I remember. There's also a foreigner bar in that area on the walking street. You can also jump on a train for Daegu. I would suggest getting off at Daegu Station because that's where Lotte Dept. and a lot of restaurants and cinemas are. And you can take a long train ride to Busan and go to Haeundae Beach. They have a big aquarium exhibit there. And of course, just ask people at work or your students for suggestions. Good luck! Oh, just remembered they have a small amusement park in Gumi. I think it's called Kumoh Land. It's up near the mountain.
