Ooohhh, pouring cold water on your head, not really much of a challenge. You want a challenge, cure cancer or try to eradicate illiteracy. Now there's a challenge.

Glad to see those with ALS are getting in on the act themselves.

From a sociological perspective, it's interesting to watch the behavior of people regarding this.

It has become more about belonging to a group and doing something fashionable than fighting a terrible disease.

I felt that way at first...kind of the facebook "selfie" thing to do. But a) apparently they are raising a lot of money, and b)so many of my friends and relatives are doing it I don't criticize.

Its quickly become just a pointless fad. Even my rural middle schoolers have got caught up in it (who's popular? who gets called out?) without any sense of charitable intent.

Nothing personal, andrewchon, but to be frank, I really don't want to do it. I am not completely ruling it out, but if I am going to accept the challenge(shamed into it), it's not going to be from a Dave's member. Again, nothing personal, and I commend you for doing it yourself. Cheers!

This guy took the challenge and got himself arrested:

Be careful those of you who have outstanding warrants - this could happen to you.

It's ridiculous on a number of levels.

Besides, most of the money will not go to research.
