Basically after my last contract I was looking for another job and came very close to getting one I wanted maybe 2 or 3 times. Stupidly, I thought I had one but they pulled out so I never bothered getting the D10. I know it's Korea and and nothing its done until its in contract so that was dumb on my part.

Anyway, I went to immigration to day to tell them and plead for forgiveness basically. They gave me a form saying I need to prove I'm living at my friends (which I am, so it's no problem) and come back with the rest of the documents and then they will decide.

She mentioned a fine but when I asked how much she replied she didn't know. I have heard it could be up to 100k per day but I've heard other instances of them being lenient with it. How much do you guys think?

Anyways, shit.

Typically, if you are apprehended it can be up to 100k per day.
Usually, if you turn yourself in and it hasn't been too long they only charge 100k but it WILL complicate future visa applications and/or transfers.

With the black-mark in your immigration file, any future violation will have more significant repercussions as well (repeat offender).

I overstayed mine by about a week a couple of years back. I went to the immigration office at Incheon airport and told them. They gave me an annoyed look, had me fill out some paper-work, and then sent me on my way. I have gotten two E2 visas since then, with no problem. I don't think I even had to pay a fine at the airport.
