So I am switching jobs. I have already signed (2 weeks ago) a contract for the new job, but have yet to go to immigration.

I wanted to grab my pension, so I bought a one-way ticket to Japan for the second week of September. I went and applied in the office today for a deposit into my Korean bank account. The woman said that they will give me my money three weeks after my departure date.

I will certainlu have to go to immigration to get set up with my new job before my flight. I am feeling pretty paranoid now. I'm worried that immigration will see that I already withdrew my pension, or that NPS will see that I have a new job and didn't tell them and I will get busted and sent to K-jail.

What do you think? Do I have something to worry about? Should I call and say "lol just kidding, new job in Korea"? Or am I worrying too much?

Thaaaanks

Immigration doesn't care.

IF the NPS sees that you are remaining in Korea on the same E2 they may simply cancel your refund and just keep your account active until you actually do depart.

I think you are worrying too much. Next time, just check the box that says, collect at the airport. This will save you time and stress. There is a pension office there. They would have given it to you on your way to Japan.
Cash in hand.NO worries, whatsoever. I have collected at the airport three times and returned the next day. I also switched jobs on the same visa. Anymore questions?

Wait a second. I just reread your post. you already signed the NEW contract?(That means you are NOT finished in Korea. There may be a problem, not sure. I always just waited until I had the cash, then signed. Let us know how this turns out. Thanks.

Doubt seriously any jail time is involved here. You just might have to wait until you are finished with your new contract to collect, though. But then again, this is Korea. It could already be on its way to your account as I type.

Yeah, I already had a job lined up. If they just cancel the transaction it would be totally fine - I was just wondering if I could get into any sort of trouble over this.

Update:

NPS rang me today, polite as can be, and said "did you not leave? Oh. In that case, we can't give you your money. Sorry!" And that was that.

NOW WE KNOW

Here is a question

What if one (for whatever reason) does not have an ARC (immigratin mix up, lost, what have you). Will they be able to simply use your passport information?

Nope.

Spend 20k and get a new ARC.

Interesting...(though I am mot trying to hijack the thread)....

This applied me, I will be honest. I never received my ARC from immigration for my D-10 way down in another province, due to the official making a mistake and delaying it another 10 days.

Before the 10 days came and went, I transferred the D-10 to another E-2...but...it did not last, as there was some foreshadowing from a thread "Moving into Filth"...a contributing poster was right about possible future events in relation to that.

So, I left that nonsense with a LOR (the E2 was processed) but I do not have an ARC, still. I went to immigration to see if they had one that may had been ready...but it was a no-go and they did not understand why I did nit gave one.

So...if I decide to leave and leave all this behind, I will not be able to claim my pension? That sucks...
