I posted this in General discussion by accident so reposting.
Basically after my last contract I was looking for another job and came very close to getting one I wanted maybe 2 or 3 times. Stupidly, I thought I had one but they pulled out so I never bothered getting the D10. I know it's Korea and and nothing its done until its in contract so that was dumb on my part.
Anyway, I went to immigration to day to tell them and plead for forgiveness basically. They gave me a form saying I need to prove I'm living at my friends (which I am, so it's no problem) and come back with the rest of the documents and then they will decide.
She mentioned a fine but when I asked how much she replied she didn't know. I have heard it could be up to 100k per day but I've heard other instances of them being lenient with it. How much do you guys think?
Anyways, shit. |

There is no fine involved, they hook clamps to your nipples and the other end to a car battery. They shock you until you can perfectly recite the Korean National Anthem.
It should only take an hour or two, not a big deal. |

I've heard of people getting off with a warning (Korean Americans) who cried and said they were taking care of sick grandparents and forgot to come in. I also know of two Americans who were fined 300,000 won for overstay 3 days.
It just all depends on the officer hearing your case. My co-teacher overstayed by five months! She was a pretty Korean who had came for a one month summer intensive. There was a 20 minute conversation at the immigration office. They gave her some papers and told her to leave within 24 hours and they would look the other way. I asked her about what was happening. It turns out she told them she had been adopted and returned here to try to find her family. Tears and all! |

Just got back with my D10. Charged me 80k and slap on the wrist, not complaining. No sob stories either, I didn't even give them an excuse just told them I messed up. |
