I have about 5,000 Gmileage points, and it has taken me about 2 years or 80 purchases or roughly a few thousand dollars worth of purchases so far. The problem I have come across is that it seems there is no way to use Gmileage points UNTIL you have reached 10,000. Only at 10,000 do they allow you to convert it to Gcash for use. So my question is, is there any way to use these points NOW or must I continue to spend a few more thousand bucks just to get to 10,000 so I can finally use them??
If I had known this from the beginning when I signed up, I would have opted to just collect Gstamps every single time I made a purchase and wrote a review. Gstamps are able to be used right away and you can collect things like free delivery or 1,000-2,000 won discount or even 7% off items.
So for any future Gmarket customers who signed up, I'd recommend you only collect Gstamps and not bother to collect Gmileage as you can't use them until you get 10,000 which you need to spend about 6 or 7 grand to get 10,000 mileage. |

You can exchange 2500 gmileage for a free delivery coupon in the same place you exchange for the 1000/2000 coupons. Those free delivery coupons can be used for items over 10000 won. |

Thanks for the reply and yes I knew that already BUT (and this part is not mocking you but Gmarket's Gmileage system), 2500 gmileage points for free delivery is a joke! In order to collect around 2500 gmileage points, it takes spending $2,000 to $3,000 (2 to 3 million won) just so that you can get a free delivery coupon that's worth $2.50 (2,500 won)?
If you collect about 12 to 20 Gstamps, you can easily get 2,000 won discount coupons or more (3% to 7% off total price coupons). You can get about 10 Gstamps spending less than $200 so the comparison is not even close.
But I may not have a choice but to have to waste my 5,000 gmileage points for 2 free delivery coupons (worth $5 total). I spend about $3,000 to $4,000 to get those 5,000 gmileage points over the last 4 years.
So once again, a warning to all future Gmarket users. Don't bother to collect Gmileage! Just acquire Gstamps instead for every single purchase. |

Point cards are a scam.
They're devised to induce you to spend more to achieve minimal rewards you probably dont need anyway & to track your spending habits.
Just say no thanks & keep your shopping simple. |

I pretty much order everything from Gmarket so my gmileage adds up pretty quickly.
There's also a roulette/special benefits section where you can win extra mileage and coupons everyday. There are even more coupons on the korean gmarket site than the english site which I just recently discovered..so I don't ever really need to exchange the gstamps. |

While I agree with that they are devised to induce us to spend more to achieve small rewards, I disagree that they are "scams". It's just one of those fine print things one should know about beforehand, but they aren't actually scamming you of anything. It's not exactly a points card at Gmarket. I didn't sign up for the points card or reward system. It's automatically part of any Gmarket account you start. If you buy anything on there, you always get your choice of gmileage or gstamps, so you might as just receive them since they are giving it to you. My only beef is that I didn't realize the only way to use gmileage is after you've accumulated 10,000 miles, and having just under 5k miles but spend at least 3 - 4 grand since I joined, that seems hardly reasonable that they won't allow us to use the gmileage until you spend 8 thousand dollars. Once you do, the reward is like 80 bucks max (1% of total spent if you are lucky). |

I must say though that I love Gmarket's shipping speed. Everything I order literally gets to me in 2 days or less. That's just phenomenal speed for just 2,500 won delivery fee. I still order off of ebay (since 2004) but man, most of my orders take 3 to 6 weeks (up to 45 days) and it's a pain to have to wait that long for items to arrive. 2 days wait time for Gmarket, I guess that makes up for these petty mileage points and savings rewards. I'm still a very happy camper. |
