post on positive events and the like in SK rather than just reacting to posts putting SK in a negative light?

As long as you can keep from phrasing your comments in comparative terms--"SK _____ is better than _____________" or SK ________ is the best," there shouldn't be much argument and maybe some people will get some good info they can use.

Right. Why not? For that matter, why don't said posters start threads instead of constantly jumping into someone else's with either a quip or a page long post that moves the goal posts?

Occasionally I see a positive OP here about Korea. The bashers instantly swarm.

It is just barely possible that some of the people that have a positive attitude about Korea have that positive attitude because they have a life outside of this forum.

Most bashers are IMO wannaba bullies. All of them are guys who couldn't be bullies in real life so they swarm to the internet wanting to feel powerful by bashing others.

I have a very think skin and I know what some foreigner thinks of me don't mean jack.

You are now assuming that he does have anyway to know that, and I am assuming that you don't know that he doesn't know and oh my god when will the circle of vitriol on this board stop?......

I assume when certain places stop the centres of the world's hypocrisy and ignorance....... I assume this to be true.

You may assume something else if you want or you can guess, make a conjecture, estimate, speculate, hastily generalize, quickly conclude, hypothesize or what not. I assume you don't care.

Because S. Korea isn't a paradise and posting articles constantly praising it just seems like something the Ministry of Propaganda does. We're not saying Korea is good, just not as bad as some make it out to be.

The other question is of course, why don't the bashers post positive articles? They after all claim that they don't hate Korea and that they're actually middle of the road. And when someone asks them why they're so miserable here, they respond that they aren't and that they like x, y, and z. So, let's see them post those reasons.

7 Things The World Can Learn From Korea

HuffPost Korea By 이창연

With the fastest Internet in the world and about 98 percent of homes wired for Internet access, Korea is one of the most plugged-in nations in the world. At the same time, Koreans have many ways of honoring traditions that go back centuries. And then there’s K-pop, which gave the world “Gangnam Style.” Here are 7 things the world can learn from Korea.

Names have meaning
The special significance of names in Korean culture is immortalized in Kim ChunSoo’s poem, “Flower.” One of the poem’s most beloved lines reads, “When I called his name, he came to me and became a flower.” In Korea, calling someone’s name is an illustration of the meaning of existence.

Resilience in the face of tragedy
sewol ferry On April 16th, the Sewol ferry, which was heading from Jindo to Jejudo, sank. Most passengers on board were students at Danwon High School and were on a field trip. While the captain and a few crew members escaped immediately, most students were not rescued from the sinking ferry. Two hundred and ninety-three people died, and at least 10 people are still missing. This shocked and greatly saddened the entire nation. The tragedy revealed a wide range of problems in the Korean media, as well as public distrust of the current government, disorganization within the coast guard, the corruption of the ferry owner, a lack of safety regulations, and the list goes on.

They revere the past
Gosa is a ritual based on traditional Confucian ideas, in which one prays to ancestors asking for peace and success when a new business or project (for example, a new film) is launched.

They give thanks
After harvest time in the fall, families gather in their hometown to conduct a memorial rite for family ancestors and eat songpyeon, a rice cake steamed on a layer of pine needles. Called ChuSeok, this is the biggest holiday for Koreans. There is a big migration from Seoul to the countryside as many people visit their hometowns.

Coffee brings everyone together
The number of cafés and coffee franchises often surprises foreigners visiting Korea. People spend time in them more often to read, talk with friends, or have a casual meeting than to actually drink coffee. Other popular places for social gatherings after work are restaurants where one can enjoy chicken and beer.

There’s strength in coming together
There is a saying that goes, “Even a blank sheet of paper is lighter when people lift it together,” which is roughly the equivalent of the English expression “Two heads are better than one.” It means that anything becomes easier when we help one another.

“Ppally ppally”
This common expression, which translates to “quickly quickly,” may have contributed to Korea’s economic growth. It stresses the need to get things done. . .quickly.

Perhaps you should jack upon steriods and buy an angry barking pit bull and walk around the neighborhood. You'll feel the power you crave.

You don't have to do that in Korea. You just have to buy a dog bigger than a Maltese.

It doesn't even need to be bigger than a Maltese.

That's one of the great things about Korea. I can take my wife's little Pekinese dog (complete with cutesy vest/harness) out for a walk, wearing lime-green flip flops and sporting a Body Shop shoulder bag - and absolutely nobody will think it looks even slightly faggy.

'Kimchi helped me win the gold'
http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/sports/2014/09/207_165370.html

INCHEON
A North Korean female weightlifter said Sunday that kimchi was the secret behind her world record, a less-sycophantic answer than that from her colleagues who credited their success to dictator Kim Jung-un.

"We eat no special food, just kimchi," said Kim Un-ju, 24, who broke the world record with a 164 kg clean and jerk in the 75 kg division last Thursday.
