| When applying for jobs in hagwons, is your a copy of your degree parchment that is required or is it a transcript of your college results? |

Neither one for the formal visa process. You may be asked for a scan of the transcripts and will be asked for a scan of your degree as part of the initial screening process.
Most places don't care about transcripts (unless you are Canadian).
It is no longer an immigration or visa requirement (unless you are Canadian).
Public schools will ask for your transcripts. It is an employer requirement.
Hagwons may ask for them (unusual but not unheard of). Whether you submit them or not is up to you.
You are REQUIRED (by immigration) to submit a certified true copy (by a notary) of your parchment with an apostille affixed.

| Ok, a few more weeks to go, have my docs ready, but now wondering what actually needs to be notorized and apostillized. Am I right in thinking just your highest degree and the criminal check need to be apostilled?? And do I need to obtain the apostilles before getting all the docs scanned onto a PDF? Cheers~ |

You need the notary to create a "certified true copy" of your bachelor's degree and then have it apostilled by the Secretary of State.
The Bachelor's Degree is the requirement for immigration.
They don't care about post graduate qualifications.
You also need your police check (FBI for Americans) with the seal and apostille by the Sec.Of.State in DC (for Americans) and the foreign service for everyone else (except Canadians - not a signatory of the apostille treaty so they need Korean Consulate certification of their documents rather than an apostille).

Thanks ttompatz. Is it any different for interviews in person? I mean they first see your scanned documents beforehand, and then confirm them when they look at your originals on site. I was wondering whether all this notarizing/ apostilling business is for mailed documents, which will always be copies.
It seems odd to have copies of my CBC/ police check and Bachelor's notarized/ apostilled, and then be able to show them the originals in person??
Or is it that I should just be getting the copies notarized, and the originals apostilled? In that case I don't need the services of a notary as I will not have [photo]copies of documents but a PDF scan. It seems all I need is for the originals of my CBC and Bachelor's to be apostilled at Foreign Affairs.

| You need to get the actual CBC notarised and apostilled, and the copy of your degree cert notarised and apostilled. This is for Korean immigration, to get your visa issuance number. It's not an employer requirement. Doesn't matter if you are in Korea in person or not, the documents are sent to immi for the VIN for everyone. |

OK, Cheers for that. It all makes sense at last. |
