|
|
I'm staying in Korea for another year. I know I have to get a new FBI background check and have already completed that. I have my original diploma but immigration has the original apostille certificate of it. I doubt immigration is going to give it back to me. I do have a xerox copy of the original. Should that be good enough for immigration when applying to work another year in Korea? I will be arsed if I have to send my diploma back to the states and pay all the paper work fees again. |

If you are staying in Korea (transfer to a new employer or change of status to D10) you don't need new documents.
If you need it, immigration will give you copies of your documents on file (in case you need them to re-register at a different POE office). the fee is 300 won per page and 3000 won for the letter that says they are issued by K-immi.

More details, please. What visa are you on? Are you doing a visa transfer? Do you have a job lined up. Why do I ask these questions, because this information can tell us if you need to actually get paperwork!
But not having those, sorry no a photocopy will not do. Immigration if they want it wants it done a certain way.
If you can not be arsed to get the paperwork required, you can expect immigration, recruiters, and schools to be arsed in dealing or hiring you. |

Immigration will not need another copy, but the Dept of Education will need one and your new school will want one. They accept verified copies of everything.
The best method is to go to immigration and ask for copies of everything.
The total price should be about 1,000 w or less. They only charged me 300w. Also, make sure to ask for a copy of the form that you will fill out to obtain your verified copies. It will only take you about five minutes.
GO to the records department at immigration and get copies of whatever you need. |

I'm on a E2 visa. I'm just looking to apply to a new school, new contract when my current visa/contract expires. I've done this process many times before where I had to get a new FBI background check each time. However, the apostille for the diploma is a more recent requirement. This will be the first time I have to resubmit it. I was just wondering if my xeroxed copies are good enough, or if I have to go to immigration and pay for 'verified' copies of it. Hopefully, I don't have to send my original degree back to the states and do this whole process all over again. |

I understood your question. NO, you cannot use Xerox copies. You have to
go to immigration and get verified copies. Actually, my new school accepted my photo copies but the Dept of Education, requested that I head over to immigration for verified copies, so that's what I did.
I've been in Korea a long time as well. I had wondered about the same scenario, until I recently went through the process I hope this answers your question.
You don't have to send your original degree back to the states UNLESS you have NEVER submitted one with an apostille. Does the one at immigrations have an apostille?
EDIT: I did this last month. |

Yes, Immigration has a copy of my degree with apostille.
My recruiter handed all the paper work to immigration. Do I just go to the local immigration office? Is there a specific one I have to go to. The nearest immigration office to me is the one in Suwon. That is where I got my ARC card. |

If you have never submitted your degree apostilled, then you will have to submit a new one.
If you have submitted one (apostilled) in the past, it should be on file with immigration. So now if you transfer your visa either E2-E2 via a D-10, you should not need new paperwork.
If you let the visa lapse or end. You will need all new paperwork and Japan visa trip.
Good Luck. |

You go to the office that has your file... the one that issued your ARC.

Apologies for bumping an old thread, almost found what I need to know but just want to clarify something.
I no longer have a signed copy of my employment contract. This is needed for a D10 visa transfer once my contact is up. Can I pay for a copy at the immigration office and use this?
Thanks! |
