Once a week a guitarist comes into my school (the English classroom, actually) to teach classical guitar to some teachers. He is super-talented and can play the guitar very well. He can also sing well. Sometimes he'll play a lovely piece and I'm thinking "Wow, that's lovely." But the moment the song ends he's snorting, hacking and what have you. And when there's no vocal component to the song he does the snorting, hacking and throat clearing during the performance. Weird. You'd think people who like refined things would be refined. I'm charmed and repulsed at precisely the same time. Only in Korea.
It's like sitting down at a fine restaurant in Apgujeong and watching well-dressed people, who are paying a good price for their meal, chomping, slurping and clearing their throat throughout the meal.

It's an indirect way for him to hint, to you, to get out of the room.
He only does it when you're there.
I sense a Smithington breakdown before Christmas.

Maybe he has a medical condition. Maybe he's hinting that he'd like a glass of water. Maybe, as lucas posted, he wants you out. Maybe he's signalling you to stand away from the ventilation grate.
Just enjoy the tunes! |
