I've been teaching at my school for two years and told my boss that I would help him find a new teacher when the time comes, now I'm kinda regretting it as I'm not sure how to go about it. Any ideas how I can go about recruiting a new teacher. And no before anyone asks this is not a job advertisement!!!! I just need some help in doing this properly I love the kids I teach and want them to end up with a decent teacher.. Thanks |

I found 2 teachers for our hogwon in a small city.
I sent an email to my friends telling them that if any of them were thinking about teaching in Korea or know someone who is, I have a reputable connection...that's how I got one...you never know who wants to come right?
Then there are free websites to post advertisements on, that's how I found the second one...
The key to finding a new teacher I found is keeping communication with them. Initially we would email everyday...you get a feel for them!
That's my advice! |

I'll state the obvious. Start with a job posting at one of the heavy trafficked sites (like this one). Get your boss to pay for it, of course. That should get a few resumes. Pick the ones you're interested in and contact them for phone interviews. |

I'm in exactly the same boat! Time is running short for my school to find a new teacher to replace me. My boss is using a recruiter but they're not having much luck. The prospective teachers keep turning down the job.
With an air of desperation in his voice, my boss asked me whether I want to stay on for another year. That's out of the question, but I care about them and I don't want them to be left holding the bag after I leave. We only have a couple of weeks because immigration needs a month to get all the paperwork together.
Any other ideas? |

i helped my previous hagwon find my replacement... they paid for a notice on dave's... we were swamped with applications.
i sorted through them and short-listed about 4 people. was just contacting them when someone basically walked in the door.
yu have to move fast with identifying the right applicant. people apply for many positions and the candidate yu think is best may get a job somewhere else fast.
i was staggered at the poor quality of many applications. some people sent photos of themselves wearing t-shirts and standing in untidy kitchens. some preficed their cover letter "hey dude" and such like. needless to say - they were not considered. it was quite an education! |
