Tesco started its crunch week on the wrong foot after an investigation in South Korea left it facing potential prosecution for questionable practices.
Executives in Korea, the grocer’s biggest market outside the UK, have been told not to leave the country, heaping further pressure on chief executive Dave Lewis.

"...expected to deliver a double dose of bad news, revealing terrible second quarter sales and confirming there was a deliberate campaign within the firm by a small number of people to distort financial information given to the City."

"We can confirm our South Korean business, Homeplus, is under investigation regarding the handling of customer data."

LOL, dumb asses. Koreans will totally destroy their local operations.

I dont know why but I feel better that the information was released though malicious circumstances, rather than sheer incompetence like the 10 other business/organisations that have lost the same information in different incidents this year.

Still hope Homeplus doesn't pull out.

It's highly likely that the Tesco executives were Korean nationals selling the customer info to Korean insurance companies.

I read it was the Korean HomePlus CEO selling the data or at least being held responsible.

Hopefully, HomePlus stays and runs more 1+1s to get any lost customers back.

If the store knew about it and either thought it was cool, or tried to cover it up they are guilty and should be punished. Hopefully someone with a shred of ethical business practices can sell me my groceries in their place. However I doubt the large homegrown stores are more ethical, just better at avoiding these messes. This is why you need trustworthy Korean executives who can teach right from wrong. Family businesses rule supreme here because they have everything to lose if they muck up.

... goes back to being open 7 days a week, 24 hours in certain locations. That is what HomePlus needs to do, asap.

This is what happens when you put adjusshis in charge of anything. Rampant corruption, cheating, and greed.

I know its an old card, but rampant corruption, cheating, and greed isn't exactly a uniquely ajosshi phenomenon. I mean, seriously, You think its all solid, ethical business back home? I mean, you think if we booted out every ajosshi and replaced it with say, an outside Coalition Provisional Authority that there wouldn't be rampant corruption and mismanagement?

Research has proven that our home countries (with the exclusion of South Africa) have less corruption than South Korea. South Korea has actually been getting worse according to rankings.
I value actual research more than your nationalistic hogwash of an opinion, so spare me your attempts at painting yourself as an expert in something you know nothing about.

You'll also forgive me for paying no attention to your replies as the constant drivel you post on this site is not worth reading.
