Have you ever worked with a creepy coworker? There tends to be a lot of creepy teachers in South Korea.
Just a quick story.
I worked with a teacher who loved to bounce his students on his knee. The kids were also calling him uncle, and the drapes were always closed when he was teaching kindergarten. His classroom was dark as well. He would talk baby gibberish with his children.
When we would go out he would tell Korean women that he thought they were pretty (yebbuda). He never got any numbers. |

Nah, never worked with any pedo types....we had one who was a creep as in he would just always hit on the female co-teachers....he would also randomly excuse himself from meetings because, "I have to fart." He would then open the door, stand outside and reenter.
He eventually got fired. |

That sounds like a similar story to the one my gf told me about her co-worker from America last year - but he just wanted them to sit on his knee.
The school canned him though and he never realized why. He still messages the co-teachers telling them they're pretty...
Just wondering, does your creepy co collect lego as a hobby by any chance? |

Since the economic crash, most of the new teachers are 20 somethings. Economic migrants basically. Paying off loans and waiting for things to improve back home.
I can only imagine the creepy factor pre 2007. Must have been x10 haha. Now, I can't imagine these types even get interviews, let alone jobs. |

The Huffington Post had an article on the economy, and the article started that we will probably never see a full economic recovery like the one we had prior to 2009. It's a new world. Those young people are going to be waiting a long time if they expect things to drastically improve.
Staying in South Korea a long time can actually hurt your chances back home. If you do plan to come back home and work, I would only stay in Korea for 1-3 years max. Get back home and do anything to put yourself in a better position. |

Our hagwon was weird. The director wanted us to rough house with the young children.
No, he doesn't collect legos. People would go out of their way to ignore the guy. Felt bad for him. |

Maybe the cold shoulders you guys gave him drove him into the tiny arms of his students. |

| I worked with a woman who told every teacher at work she was a cult member and a practicing witch. She wasn't very pretty and regularly hit on the guys in the office. The foreign guys were all scared of her. The foreign women at work thought it was funny at how she could so easily give her male coworkers the creeps. |

| There used to be a thread on Dave's called the "Freakiest Waygook Contest".... but it got deleted. So sad. So many entertaining stories in that thread, lost forever. |

That thread was removed. That stuff was too funny to delete. Dave probably keeps it in his private collection. |

Pathetic. These losers are working in korea for a reason, they are complete and utter outcasts and rejects back home (I am not as I married a Korean from home and now live here), I do not *need* to be here. |

I can't remember if it was this website or another expat forum but the weirdest thread that I recall was by a foreign teacher who thought that the k-government was spying on her and secretly exposing her to some sort of brain wave device while she was in her apartment. That was a few years back though. |

Ive met quite a few schizophrenics that think like that. Its not all that unusual. A lot of people also believe their neighbours are spying on them with radars. |

It is a bit pathetic, like this guy who posted a little while back fishing for confirmation that his feelings were reciprocated or something...
"She's like 10-11 years old. I would never have the balls to say that to a teacher...how can this girl say that to me?
I had the kids line up and she was first in line and as we waited for everyone else to line up she says, "teacher" so i bend down a little bit to lend her my ear because she wanted to whisper something and says, "You are very handsome."" |
