What kind of book? A novel? A scholarly monograph? A children's book? An art book? A little more information, please?

Well, writing a book you could use any word processor. Word is pretty standard or something that will save down to an RTF format. Agents and book editors take submissions in Word and RTF. Now if you're talking about typesetting and self publishing your own chap books, you can still do that with Word but heavy duty googling can help you figure out how to print the pages in the proper order and different binding methods. Alternatively, you can just typeset it in Word, print to a PDF and give it to a printer. Or you can get a full fledge layout program like Quark or Pagemaker or whatever people are using these days.

yeah, it depends what type of book, of course and how much layout you'll be doing....if you'll be doing any layout at all, use quark, or indesign (i prefer indesign)

That was a joke right?

In fact, is this thread a joke... I mean come on, writing a book?

Yeah, I have a copy of Novelist 3.1 which simplifies it to the click of a button... Wink
