Korea and Kazakhstan will be playing a couple of friendly games starting at 7 pm on Wednesday and Thursday. They won't be playing in Seoul unfortunately but at the Goyang Ice Rink (Goyang Eoullimnuri Arts Center (고양 어울림누리)
Closest stations are either Wondang or Hwajeong on line 3 heading towards Ilsan. Admission is free. Korea will also be hosting the IIHF Level 1 group A championships there as well in the spring with Ukraine, Hungary and other countries coming to Korea.

Won't happen, they won't match the top 6/7 hockey playing nations to teams in the lower divisions.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Hockey_Championships#Divisions
If Korea were to play Olympic hockey, they'd have to do what they did in Nagano '98. In week 1 they had the Division I teams duke it out, and top 2 advanced to playing with the big boys in week 2.
If you're wondering who's on the lower end of the Championship Division, it's countries like France and Italy. Then a bulk of teams in the mid-end. And then you have 7 elite teams, any of which can win a medal. The others don't have a realistic chance of finished above 6, but they do have the ability to steal a game from the elite teams. |

God, please let the US play Canada in North American football.
I presume you were looking forward to your home country beating up on a creampuff country that you have lived to and feel somewhat ostracized in as a way to earn vicarious glory through the achievements of one your nations sports teams. Maybe looking to brag about it?
Well, lets play you in football and turn our cornfed Nebraska boys and Memphis homies on you. Or maybe basketball and have Steve Nash and 4 scrubs take us on.
Have Canada face Korea in short track speed skating. A sport which both nations excel at. Respect to the winner of that either way. But the Korean hockey team makes the Jamaican Bobsled Team look competitive. No glory in smashing country's teams in sports they barely participate in. |

Way over the top as usual. But he does have a point. I've played w/ a handful of the guys on the Korean Olympic team, they would get blown up by beer-league players back home. If they played any Olympic team that's in the top tier, they would get absolutely demolished; It wouldn't really be a game at all, but it might be comical.
That's kinda like saying, 'Lets see the women's team play against the men's team" Or the Mighty-mights play against the HS team.
When I played juniors I remember they made us play against the US women's team that won silver in '02 Olymipics for some kind of promotional garbage and it was a complete joke. My team wasnt even very good, but when you have that kind of advantage, the game ceases to be fun to even play. |

Korea has a slim shot of making the 2018 olympics legitimately in hockey. In the last qualifier, they missed promotion by a hair's breath. A little bit of a nod from the hockey gods and they would have been in the final qualifier. They can pick it up over the next 4 years, and they might be able to do it.
They'd never likely end up playing Canada, but they would legitimately be on the ice. |

Maybe that poster knows little about sports and just wants to see those two teams play for fun? You know, fun? Not everyone hates their life and job in Korea. |

they're going all out to try to qualify for the olympics. They've given citizenship to Radunske and now Brian Young and Mike Swift both Canadians who play with High One will have their "citizenship test" next week. If it's anything like Radunske's they'll pass with flying colors. They're realizing that they have the skills but not the necessary hockey mindset to play. Italy tried this same thing and it still didn't help them. Kazakhstan isn't even bringing it's top players to this friendly game tonight/tomorrow. Korea might have a chance to play Canada at a World Tournament if they win this tournament in April (top 2 get promoted) but who knows.. they survived by a cat whisker last year. http://sports.hankooki.com/lpage/moresports/201311/sp2013110517240695990.htm |

There are a few Korean-American/Canadians in the major juniors that they could bring over. Problem is they're probably 16 years old. Older ones have probably stopped playing hockey long ago.
I wonder if any of the two ethnic Korean former-NHLers are even going to be talked to about the Korean hockey program... |

They certainly don't have a large talent pool to draw from. If you're good , you might be able to make it to one of the university squads and then onto the Asian league. Korea lost tonight 5-0... they were outmuscled and outplayed the entire game. |

It happened, a long time ago: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/06/23/nfl-cfl-teams-used-to-meet-in-the-preseason/
The scores were not as embarrassing as the (I'm assuming tongue-in-cheek) projected scores for Korea vs Canada:
Quote: |
Q. If the NHL does go to PyeongChang and Canada plays South Korea, what's the final score?
162-0.
Q. If the NHL does not go to PyeongChang and Canada plays South Korea, what's the final score?
162-1. |

Not looking for glory, just a reply to Koreans when they smugly ask me every four years, "why Canada no play World Cup?"
Reply: "We play hockey. Remember Pyeongchang?" |

By USA vs. Canada, I mean you can't use any American players currently in the CFL.
Team Canada vs. Team USA, North American football. Good luck.

I don't think they'll even care or remember. Might as well be some Indian guy going "We play cricket". That's about how relevant it is. Hate to break it to you, but no one will care.
Like I said- go for speedskating if you want to talk some smack. At least the two sides are equally competitive. |

Every CFL team carries 50% Canadians. So the game would be more competitive than you think. I'm willing to bet Mexico can probably field a decent American Football team too. |

These guys plus the cream of the CFL would not seriously challenge Team USA (essentially an All-Pro team). The Chiefs would smash them. Heck, the Jags or Bucs would smash them. Although I think Tony Romo would somehow find a way to throw away a game against them, so they could beat the Cowboys.

In rare form SR is actually right on this one. Look at a list of Canadian NFL players, it's a joke. Your average top 50 college team could probably beat the best CFL team on most days. And any all star pro lineup between US vs Conadian players would result in an equal beat down compared to the potential Canada vs korea hockey match up. And mexico, maybe O-line guys, but where did you come up with that? I follow the NFL pretty closely and can't recall ever hearing about one player mexico has produced. I don't think you know what you're talking about. As much as I enjoy football, I'll be the first to say that it's a documented crock of 11 minutes of action over a four hour span... but it's better than soccer and has the freakiest athletes in the world, and good percentage of them are black guys from the southern US. NFL players are the physical monsters of earth. Canada wouldn't have a chance in hell. |
