What are the types of re-entry visas for korea??
Lonely planet (old edit) says 'single entry' = 30,000 won
'Multiple re-entry' = 50,000 won.
I want to get a re-entry visa when I EXTEND my E2 visa for next years contract. I will probably travel to China next summer vacation (2006) and may go to thailand next winter vacation (2006).
(1) Can anyone advise if Korea still issues/needs a single or multiple re-entry visa?
(2) The cost of these visas?
(My Director sais that Immigration told him that if I want a multiple -re-entry visa I have to pay 30,000 AND 50,000 won.) (That doesn't sound right to me???)
(3) I want to apply for next years EXTENSION now.
My old contract expires on 28.12.05 and new contract will start on 29.12.05.
My Director sais immigration won't take an application for an extension to my current visa until 1 December 2005?
Does anyone know the EARLIEST DATE I can apply for an extension.
Appreciate your help. |

my info is up to date as of May 2005.
you will have to pay 80,000 but that covers both the visa renewal and the multiple entry permit. (the renewal cost is 30,000 and the reentry permit costs 50,000.) Assuming you bring all the right documents with you, processing for both should take about half an hour.
I don't know about the earliest you can renew your visa though, best to call the immigration office and ask. |

As Peppermint said, 80k for the renewal/extension(30) plus multiple re-enrty visa(50). Get the multiple re-entry because if you plan on taking more than one trip during your new contract year, you would have to get multiple single re-entry visas...that is, one for each trip you take outside of the country. The multiple re-entry visa will cover all three of your trips. If your director said that immi'll let you renew on Dec 1st, do so then. I'm surprised they actually will give you that much time...usu everything has to be done last minute, rush, rush, having someone drop your passport and newly-stamped ARC off to you while you wait in a line at the airport. |
