Are there any repercussions for the academy that I work at if noone shows up?
I've pretty much decided not to go. But my co-worker is flipping out worried that my boss is going to get in some sort of trouble |

Some lawyer posted on some facebook group somewhere that it really is required by law and that if noone goes the hagwon could get shut down for a week.
Myself and a co-worker were requested to go. We agreed we wouldn't.. Now having cold feet.
Does anyone know if this is true? |

Ive heard worst case scenario is that the place can lose their business licence.
My workplace was required to snd one person but my boss decided to bite the bullet and go himself. It saved me the trouble of refusing to go as I was not informed until Wednesday and I have weekend plans already. |

The business license comes from the Tax Office. The Hagwon registration comes from the local DOE where the institute is operating. The only way to know for sure that the said hagwon would be penalized would be to check with said DOE where the institute is registered.
The local hagwon association has no connection to the DOE, i.e. they are simply self-antonymous organizations which provide training options for hagwon owners and employees. The best thing for people to do is to find some way of checking with your local DOE to find out the legal requirements for attending a non-DOE sponsored activity set up by a hagwon association. |

The one my boss is going to is put on by the education office.
I am glad to know that they are educating people that sex crimes are illegal. You know for those who might misunderstand and think its legal. |

The notices we receive are usually from the DOE, and most of them have to do with safety and other administrative issues. Only once were other employees required to go besides the administrator. We never attend the hagwon association meetings as we know they are usually nothing more than meetings to talk about how much they are doing for you so they can collect more money from you. |
