I hope this fits here. Please feel free to move.

Last week I was visiting a school in Seoul that I was eyeing as a potential job. While I was there I witnessed a incident that I am unsure about how to handle. (I would if I was back in Canada). I was walking near the track and field when I noticed a man with whom appeared to be a student. I assumed he was an employee as he was wearing a school shirt. He was touching the student in a very inappropriate manner. As we approached he stopped and the student left. I was able to get a good look at the man and later while looking at the school website I was able to identify the him. He was definitely a teacher.

My question is how should I proceed. I didn't say anything as I would like employment here and do not want to cause any problems that may jeopardize my chance of finding a job. Morally I have to do something. Should I contact the school? As I am new to the country I do not know of any agencies that I could contact. Input and suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

He will never be charged or anything for an inappropriate action witnessed by dumb white guy. It will be chalked up to a 'misunderstanding' and he will go unpunished.

You will destroy your own reputation in the school. If you report it, be prepared not to work there.

Then I guess I will not be working in this school. As a teacher and a professional I have to say or do something.

Define very inappropriate. You have to get specific. If you can't tell us specifically what happened, we can't offer you the best advice.

Also, you need evidence. It will just be a 'you said, he said' situation. As people say, they won't take the word of a foreigner over a Korean, and while this is true, its important to remember that you shouldn't have your word automatically believed simply because you are foreign. Why should they believe the word of someone newbie who they haven't gotten to know over an established person that they have a relationship with and have gotten to know? So, before you run in with accusations flying, get some solid evidence- like a cell phone vid or something. Otherwise you have no proof.

And do be 100% sure you saw what you saw. An accusation of a sex crime is a serious matter and should not be tossed around lightly.

Also, since the guy is known to the school, there is a chance that while he might be a popular employee, he also might be hated and people already have their suspicions.

I definitely did not get pictures. I just walked upon it. It was a white male teacher with a younger student. I refuse to look the other way. I could care less about the job. I have dealt with these problems back in the west and I have seen the damage it has caused.

Dude....please if you have nothing to contribute on this issue spare me the witty guy on the post crap.

How would someone else deal with this situation? Are there sites or numbers of officials to contact?

Whoawhoawhoa! The teacher was white? As in non-Korean, caucasian? Talk to the school ASAP. Which should also be the advice were the perpetrator Korean, but at least with them being a foreigner, there's a chance of something being done.

Wasn't this exact thread done like a year ago?
Some guy was touring a hagwon as a prospective employee and he happened to walk into a room where a teacher was making out with a student.

Sorry to disappoint Quonny. Not trying to troll. Just looking for advise.

I am an actual teacher who has seen his fair share a shit when it comes to kids. A perv is perv. Don't care what country, what business, what position.

Before this thread gets out of hand I will take the advise and contact the school this morning. Hopefully someone there will take it serious.

I retract my earlier statement. If the teacher is white, he will be dealt with.
