I don't think I ever read anything by him except maybe one short story, and only because it was anthologized in a textbook I was using for a class. I'm guessing he had some pretty devoted fans on this board, though.

One of my favorite authors. It's so sad he never finished the last book he was working on. Dementia.
100 years of Solitude should be required reading for the entire world. |

I studied, read and taught him over the years. His short story, "A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings" pairs well in themes and characters with the movie, Edward Scissorhands, with ideas like "outcast" and "mob mentality" translating well across time and culture.
I've read 100 Years. . . and Love in the Time of Cholera, and both were brilliant and magical. While his death is a loss to lovers of stories and literature, his life was a big gain. . . RIP |

| I have probably read 100 years at least 12 times since I first got my hands on the book in 1994. Every time I read it, I get more out of that book. It's unlike any other novel I've ever read. |

| I picked up one of his books purely by chance from a used book store years ago and was pleasantly surprised. He had a truly unique and engaging writing style. His prose was almost poetic. Maybe I should try and find some more of his stuff. |
