Hey guys, been awhile since I've been to Korea, but will be going in May and want to bring a friend some Redbreast Irish whiskey. Does anyone know if there are any limits? The last thing I want is for him to have to pay tax or any money whatsoever to be able to accept two bottles of fine whiskey.

Thanks in advance.

I do not know of any airlines that permit passengers to bring liquids on board. This might not be universal, but even Asian airlines are getting stricter.

You could perhaps come by boat.

You CANNOT send it unless he has a permit to import it.

You CAN carry it in your checked luggage or buy it at the duty-free (after clearing security) and bring it with you as carry-on.

There is a limit (duty free) of 1 bottle (1 liter) per person.

There's a way around the whole thing. If you happen to have a layover, you can declare one bottle you have with you from home and go through customs at your layover airport, then before you board to go to Korea, you can buy a 2nd bottle at the duty free store and bring that (and the receipt) with you.

You can also have some other convoluted thing not relating to alcohol that customs has to deal with for 20 minutes, go deal with that first and when you're done, the person will probably wave you through without remembering to send you through the scanner.

Thanks guys. I'm not hell bent on bringing him 2 bottles, so one will suffice. Thanks again.
