What is the quickest way to get from Pyeongchon station to Jeongja station?
I'm considering a job offer near Pyeongchon station and my girlfriend is about to accept one near Jeongja station. We're getting our own apartments but I was wondering how long it would take to travel between the two. I'm assuming a taxi would be best, but would be interested to know how long it would take and roughly how much it would cost. Also, is it possible to cycle between the two?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as time is a factor and I just want to know if I should be trying to get jobs a bit nearer to her!
Many thanks!

If you take a taxi, it's going to take a lot less time because the bus and trains go around what looks to be mountains.
If that's not an option, you'll take bus number 1303
or
Take line 4 from pyongcheon, get off at Sadang station, transfer to line 2, get off at Gangnam station, transfer to Shinbundang line. Then get off at Jeongja.
If it were me, I'd take the bus. All you have to do is find out where 1303 picks up near your originating point. (No transfers, etc.) |

Thanks for the useful info! A bus would definitely be cheaper, though I'd be interested to know how much a taxi may be. From what I've heard taxis are fairly cheap in Korea, but as it'll be a regular commute it might not be the most practical solution. |

Not familiar with that area so if someone else has direct knowledge I'd listen to them.
Going off Daum maps, which is usually pretty accurate, bus or subway is going to take about an hour. No real time saving options.
Taxi, again according to Daum, is going to run close to 15,000. Should take about 30 minutes by taxi. |

Just in general, taking a taxi across city limits is NOT recommended except when you're in a big hurry or desperate. The driver is not allowed to pick up the next passenger unless he comes back to his licensed municipality, thus you'll need to negotiate in advance for a flat lump sum fare.
Now, for Pyeongchon-Jeongja in particular, 1303 'kind of' works without transfer, but it's not ideal as it takes countryside route instead of the Ring Expressway.
You can take 3330 instead to Pangyo or Seohyon Station and make a transfer. Shin-Bundang line from Pangyo to Jeongja would've been OK if only the actual metro station weren't some 500 meters away from the 3330's nearest stop. Transfer to another bus might be slightly better.
Online map routing may or may not give you one more option of transferring from 3330 to 8106 at a transfer point on the highway, but this 8106 runs at 20-minute interval. That can hardly be ideal. |

Many thanks for the useful comments! I'm now about to take a position at a school a lot nearer to where my girlfriend will be living and luckily the position I have found has much better hours and pay!
It does seem like it would have been impractical living that far apart, unless you had your own car. |

I'm glad you decided to do that OP, I was going to suggest it but thought the better of it since the job market is so crappy there these days. Enjoy your time in Korea. It's what you make of it. |
