Hi guys!
Is there any government organization who protects foreign worker's rights, gives counseling and helps with employment?
I know that there is KOTRA, but it is very big and I do not know whom to contact.
Thanks in advance!!! |

| Try the Seoul Global Center (Website: http://global.seoul.go.kr Call center: 02-2075-4130-1) or the Busan Global Center (Website: www.bfia.or.kr/english/main/main.asp Call center: 1577-7716). They'll be able to help you or at least point you in the right direction. |

| I had always thought that was the purpose of the labour board. |

KOTRA is a trade organization and has nothing to do with the rights of employees in Korea.
The labor board ( http://www.moel.go.kr/english/main.jsp ) or the help centers listed above would be your first options (if you are an E1 or E2 EFL teacher).
If you go to the labor board you WILL need a translator. Services are NOT provided in English.
Other organizations can be found here:

The LB doesn't specifically provide help in English but in a big city, it's not uncommon for there to be someone around who can talk to you in English. If you're in a hurry you could pop in and see. Bringing along a friend who can translate for you is a good idea though. |
