Hey,

I've been in Korea for 3 years on the same E2 VIsa and at my current school for 16 months (including two trips to immigration for visa reneweals)

However I have been told this week that the Educationn office (not immi) is asking my hagwon for apostilled copies of my degree and all the general paperwork I gave Immigration when i first came here and got my visa.

I told my school this and they said that to two branches are seperate and that all teachers Korean and not are being made to register these documents and I don't get where they are coming from as I've seen no sign of this being a required thing.

They say the law changed in 2013 but I can't find it. Does anybody know what this is and if there is a way to get immigration to confrirm I had these documents if they really seriously need them?

thanks

Yep, I've had to submit a copy of my FBI criminal records check, a copy of my apostilled diploma, a copy of my health screening and a Korean criminal check each year that I have been teaching in the Korea.

I have an E2 visa, and it's the Suwon education office that needs all of this from me. The documents at immigration are easy to obtain. Go to the immigration office, records department, ask for official copies of what's needed, pay them (usually around 500-1000 won) and that's it.

I know it's a pain in the ass, but it really is standard procedure if you're teaching kids.

its only "standard procedure" for a few of the most anal POE's. Most do not.
