For those of us who have this, 2015 might be quite an exciting year. January 1, 2015, is lunar 11/11/14. Then 4 days later will be the 10th lunar anniversary of the Northern Sumatra Earthquake. It might not be the biggest in recent History, #3, BUT it was the longest lasting. It lasted exactly 10 minutes!!!!! Shocked

By the way. You know how Koreans have very old records of their history.
In the year 27 in Kwangju was an Earthquake that was powerful enough that today it would basically destroy the entire city.

Now that is interesting. Have there been any big earthquakes since? What are the odds of another earthquake like that happening again?

I think you go the year wrong on that. I'm not sure, but I seem to recall that the lunar year number is not the same as the Gregorian calendar's year number.

If you are in Korea, look at any calendar. Solar 1/1/15 was Lunar 11/11/14.

Today is solar 2/2/15 and Lunar 12/14/14. So tomorrow is Full Moon. Lunar new year Lunar 1/1/15 starts on Solar 2/19/2015. It is a national holiday, so if you are in Korea it is on red on the calendar.

All I know is that a Korean prof. told me that when he was a kid in the early 1960's there was one that caused some brick walls that were around houses to fall down. We did feel the Palm Sunday March 20 2005 that was actually in Fucuoka, Japan. We thought it was in Kwangju.

Oh, and the third full moon in Sloar 2015 Lunar (1/15) is not until Solar March 5. Things are far apart this year because Lunar 2014 had 13 months (two Septembers). That is why 추석 (Lunar 8/15)will be much later than last year. This year it is Solar 9/27.
