The bus drivers here are the worst. Especially in the morning. I bike to work a few times a week and when a crosswalk light turns green, you make damned sure there isn't a bus anywhere nearby before you cross that crosswalk. I've started crossing on green a couple of times without thoroughly checking and had some bus go flying past right in front of me. Terrifying.

They are idiots. It seems that the bigger the ride, the more that a-hole. There is a new apartment complex being built around the corner from my house. Some of these concrete truck drivers are taking corners like the are in an F1 car. Someone is going to get hurt.

I heard he fell asleep at the wheel or possibly was on his phone.

I'm sure this will sound like hyperbole to some but I would never put my life in the hands of drivers here as a pedestrian. With crosswalks, I'll watch cars approaching that are approaching fast while I cross/let others start crossing first/wait a few seconds before starting to cross. I never ever ever just casually cross.

This accident though...it reminds me of one some months or so back, where a truck carrying a load lost control while tearing through an intersection and tipped over, pancaking a car in the opposite lane that was waiting to turn. Accidents happen everywhere but having access to the video footage like this, wow.

These aren't accidents; they're inevitables. And that's not going to change until the fool drivers actually learn to drive responsibly.

I am with you Z. Folks here stand right up at the cross walk staring at their phones with cars whizzing by. They see the green man and just hit the street without taking a glance to their left.

I stand in the back, behind on of the barriers so that if an ahole loses control he or she will hit that barrier first. Call me paranoid, but it works for me.

As for the driving here...it seems that the excuse "I fell asleep" is the go to. Better than saying you were on your phone. I did a road trip a few weeks ago and noticed quite a few signs that said pull over if you are tired.

Problem is is that they need to enforce driving here. It is foolish what some of these folks do.

Not really sure how you can enforce falling asleep at the wheel.

I think the best option is technology that tracks driver's eyes if they fall asleep and proximity alarms.

Though it may appear that way, I actually never said anything about enforcing falling asleep at the wheel. It's pretty much impossible for the masses.

They need to create and enforce driving rules here. Heck, they can start with parking and work their way up. Maybe people will start to take it more serious instead of it appearing like some folks are playing a video game.

There is a round-about that was put in my hood about a year ago. It is right next to a kindergarten, so I am assuming a kid got smoked. So, the drivers here when in the roundabout come to a full stop when someone wants to enter the roundabout. Think about that for a minute. They stop in the roundabout to let someone in...how far are we all going to get if the drivers are all stopping and adding more cars.

This list can go on forever. Parking. Seatbelts. Lane changing from 1 to 5 IMMEDIATELY. Driving 40 under the limit. Driving 40 over the limit. Cops do very little to enforce driving rules here only when the city needs a financial boost and they start handing out tickets.

Auto braking should be mandatory on all cars.

If you buy a dash cam, you can decide to either buy only a front facing one, or a dual. It all depends on the buyer.

It is! However fleeting. Bring on the driverless Google and autopilot Tesla vehicles. That will be the correcting solution for errant humanity.

Interesting. I have one forward facing. I never really thought to get one rear facing.
