Here's a thoughtful magazine article -- worth a read.

And a Korean lady speaks --

and more --

Nationalism, patriotism, religion and racism are not just dumb, but are a cause of numerous social problems. Then we have gender discrimination to contend with - in some countries women currently have so few rights that they are practically slaves.

At the same time, all countries openly allow and perhaps even support the existence of at least one of these national characteristics.

So obviously it's wrong to feel a patriotic duty to protect my constitution and my countries freedoms from the likes or encroachment of say China, North Korea, ISIS etc.. Very Happy

What a daft thing to say -- USA ( and UK ) stirred up the hornet's nest in the Middle East, thus creating a swamp in which groups like ISIS can flourish.

Not only that -- YOUR country's leaders suck up to and bow to countries that morally, ideologically and religiously, are JUST AS BAD as ISIS and even fund them -- EG Saudi, Bahrain, Qatar etc.

Perhaps you didn't see the video of a Burmese woman hacked to death and beheaded by the state on the streets of Saudi a week or two ago? And Saudi are US and UK's FRIENDS.

It's not only the US of course -- just last week, Prince Charles was dancing around doing some absurd sword jumping ritual with these evil Saudi monarchs who are just as toxic as ISIS.

And since when did you feel you have to defend the USA's freedoms from the encroachment of North Korea?

Good grief man, watch something else besides CNN, FOX and the BBC...

Now -- let's get back to the ORIGINAL post, which is not about you and your 'patriotism' and not about 'defending your freedom from ISIS' -- The post is about KOREA.

Saudis FUND ISIS --

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/war-with-isis-if-the-saudis-arent-fuelling-the-militant-inferno-who-is-10024324.html

But I digress -- Maximum wrote, "Nationalism, patriotism, religion and racism are not just dumb, but are a cause of numerous social problems."

And he's right.

Now, back to Korea...

That's a lousy opinion column that in no way makes the case its headline suggests.

BTW, the Saudis have been fighting against ISIS and are supposedly prepared to send ground troops, etc.

Atwood, you are hilarious, calling ROBERT FISK a lousy journalist...

It's not worth discussing it further with you if that's your view of him. You show your ignorance and lack of knowledge from the get go. He's world renowned writer, along with Chomsky, Pilger, Said and Zinn. But -- I am sure you know better than him. He's 'lousy.'

Only in Korea...

Right, off you go to yahoo news and FOX to continue in your rut. Get your daily fix of right wing trash propaganda with no nuance.

You've taken a page out of sr's book I see, arguing by misquotation. I wrote it was a lousy column. I didn't post anything about Fisk.

But feel free to continue on with your anti-U.S. fixation. Edward Said, indeed.

That's a lousy opinion column...written by ROBERT FISK...

You are daft..go back to CNN...You have no CLUE -- I'd love to hear the writers and authors that inform your world view....Hollywood movie stars, Ted Nugent, wrestlers or 2nd rate American politicians perhaps?

And you mention my 'anti US sentiment' -- my, aren't you sensitive -- you can't read much can you, because if you could, you'd clearly see me taking a shot at BRITISH foreign policy and leaders too...

Only in Korea, really...

My suspicion that GJoeM is really a troll has finally been confirmed with this post.

And now, after that little 'patriotic' interval provided by our resident right wing reactionaries -- to get back on topic -- That is one brave Korean lady in that video -- I respect her courage and spirit. And the white guy in the second video has some good points too.

According to you, it's not only in Korea since you've pointed the finger at Yahoo, Fox, and CNN. Get your facts straight.

I don't care who it was written by, it was a lousy column. No facts, just innuendo, playing to the peanut gallery who want to believe it's all a U.S./Saudi conspiracy. Someone like yourself who can only insult those who disagree with him rather than provide any support for his argument besides screaming ROBERT FISK at the top of his lungs.

YOU are bumping it and trying to derail it with your off topic ignorant trolling -- I am trying to get it back on topic before mods lock it.
