of course this Docu didn't take into account Koreans all around the world and is just a guesstimate but it really sadden me and shed light on a seldom discussed yet ultimately the most serious concern for future generations
The South Korean Love Industry: VICE INTL total time 22 mins. (please give it a view if you can)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYcEXCy4izY
We sent Matt Shea to investigate this generational crisis, which led him to Seoul's red-light district, a pre-wedding photo shoot on the set of a Korean soap opera, and an erotic sculpture park on South Korea's "honeymoon island."
With one of the lowest birth rates in the world, South Korea is in danger of disappearing by the end of the millennium. If the situation stays as it is, South Koreans are predicted to become extinct by 2750. Because of the rapidly aging population, elderly prostitutes known as "Bacchus ladies" have cornered a number of public parks as their working areas. Meanwhile, South Korean kids are living with their families well into their 20s—as a result, an entire economy of sex motels has sprung up to give kids a place to fool around outside the watchful eyes of their parents. |

Yes, the birthrate will stay exactly the same for 700 years. That would be interesting to see. |

As unlikely as that would be, there's a far more likely event that will occur within 700 years; the unification of Korea. Alternately, the dissolution of South Korea. South Koreans will not exist after either event. |

It is like that joke:
'Why are there no Koreans on Star Trek?'
'Because it is set in the future'
boom boom! |

Not counting nuclear annihilation. A thinking man's got to assume the chance of nuclear war happening sometime in the next 700 years to be close to 100%. Throwing in meteor strikes, food shortage, environmental changes, etc., good chance we'll all be gone by then. |

Yep I'm amazed people can visualize 700 years ahead.
Its hard to think of even 200 years ahead when you see rates of environmental degradation, climate change, population growth and human conflict. |

Sooner than 700 if they dont learn some safety and start saving some people from themselves.
I saw a dad today with his 7 year old son on the front of his motorcycle. Neither had helmets but both were going the wrong way down a one way road. |

The birthrate may be low, but they're still cranking out babies. They may be fewer in number, but they're certainly not going to go extinct, barring some major event like an asteroid, a comet, a nuclear event, etc. |

It only took a generation to drop Korea's birthrate from something like 6, to around 1. It can easily take an upswing if the right conditions presents itself. |

Korean pop. is not set to actually start decreasing until 2037.
Still got a massive backlog of old people. |

Okay, I assumed it was higher up on the list. Our greatest threats are actually biotech and AI, and the probability of human extinction in our kids' lifetime is 19% according to some pros at Oxford.
