My university is looking to offer some alternative writing classes next semester and I was thinking about a "Technical Writing" skills class. In other words skills that will enable students to produce more effective scientific and technical documents.
Has anyone here ever done something similar? Any constructive advice would be extremely helpful. |

I was a technical writer for over ten years. What exactly do you want to know? |

A good textbook? Maybe some basic activities for Engineering students to help their technical writing. Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful. |

Academic Writing for Graduate Students
Swales, Feak,
It's pretty much the Bible of academic (and technical) writing; full of activities too. Ideally though, the students would be working on their own articles rather than doing the canned exercises, but they are great exercises nonetheless. |
