Gang,

So a friend of mine has been up to Yongsan to buy DVDs (from the guys in the roadside stalls), but the last couple of times he's been told that there was a police crackdown and they aren't selling at this time.

Anyone know the skinny as to when they'll be up and running full bore???

Danke,

Stoakley

There was a warning about a crackdown coming a week or two ago. They usually don't last that long, do they?

Any update? I am looking to head up that way this weekend and like to pick up some flicks.

Thanks,

Just go to any number of subway stations and pay half the price. Or download for free movies. If you buy them from the people in subway stations, they are usually 5 for 10,000.

Yeah, I hear you. I didn't realize that...as I have not been in/on the subway in over 6 years. Which station (exit) have you seen them sold? Also, do they sell children & adult shows/TV seasons?

Thanks,

Stoakley

They all have different stuff. Subway stations that I am often in which always have somebody selling DVD's are Samseong, Sinchon, Singil stations. You will often see them on the streets as well if the weather is good.

www.66stage.com

Are there any more?

Still some good selections at Jongno / insadong at weekends, don't worry... Shame about Yongsan though, used to find the odd Gem there that I'd never imagine finding elsewhere... Got Wong Kar Wei's 'In the Mood for Love' for just 3,000 last month....

Yongsan street stalls are back in business...

Was there June 14th and business as usual...though, they're attempting to be a little more discreet. Legit copies are displayed with the folders of copied DVDs for perusal (and the orders phoned in and brought in under shirt).
