Cool. I'd love to see consideration and good manners become more common place throughout Korea. |

Many Korean drivers have become noticeably more patient & courteous in recent years. |

This is really stupid, even by the already low standards of what passes for Korean journalism. |

It's from a piece from one of those fluff segments that all news show have. |

And many more have become noticeably more impatient and inconsiderate in recent years. |

I wouldn't call this a "heartwarming" story.
They could barely wait for her to pass by. |

Maybe it was my living in Sokcho until recently, but drivers were definitely stopping at unsignalled crosswalks to let pedestrians cross. Going slower in school zones. Yielding to buses & emergency vehicles. Just generally driving with less urgency. Also lots of new traffic taming devices.
Taxi drivers still tended to be road cowboys though. |

I've noticed it. Drivers sometimes even stop for me before I even step foot onto an uncontrolled crosswalk. That would have been unthinkable 5 years ago.
Also, I've noticed they aren't as quick on the horn when the light turns green. Used to remember guys would get rolling a few seconds before the switch. |

Nor do I. It's simply not happening.
More apologist nonsense from Schwa.
Having said that, if the old woman was crossing against the light holding up traffic she deserves a slapping. I see this arrogance far too often from old people in Korea. Rules apply to them, too. |

Anyone who's been here for any length of time can indeed tell you that the driving has improved quite a bit. Not that it doesn't still have a long, long way to go. |

Maybe they like your look ... and dislike mine.
EVERY DAY I have cars zip around me as I try to cross the street here in Seoul. They go so far around me, they cross into the oncoming traffic lane just so they don't have to slow/stop to allow a pedestrian to cross.
So, no - I don't see things getting better. Not as a pedestrian in Seoul. |
