Does anyone else get this, or know the cause?

Its like a steady, ever-present faint hum that permeates the building 24/7. I don't find it to be a problem, but a friend of mine says it is also in his building and it drives him insane.

He said its the accumulated sound of all the vibrating cellphones in the building. When you have 400 people living in a building, each with their own cellphone, such an explanation makes sense.

personally I think its either the combined drone of 100+ refrigerators, or its the electronic security system.

Does your building have a restaurant on the first floor? My friends villa has a humming sound from 4-2am because of the fans they run.

One of the units in my building has a faulty intercom. It constantly sounds like someone ringed on the outside, and the occupant picked up the receiver and left it on the table.

If the vibration from the cell phones could be heard, they wouldn't produce a humming drone like sound. It would be an uneven sound. I would say it could be a transformer, especially since it sounds like your talking about a drone sound. Those can be quite noisy if they are large. However given it's Asia with no neighborhood laws, it could also be some store's compressor that is very old but still works fine and makes a lot of noise and they don't care and won't replace it. I don't think you would find noisy water pumps in South Korea like other shit holes. Those can also come lose from their Gerry rigging and make huge amounts of noise.

Ventilation, 60Hz noise from electricity, water pipes... Could be a lot of things.

Anyone remember that poster on Dave's who said that some cult was bombarding her apartment with microwaves or something?

I have it on good authority that it's the sound of North Korean nuclear rockets - constantly flying over your building.

That's not a good sign, if you ask me.

I remember a woman a few years ago who was going on about that. Can't remember her username though. But I kind of remember it being the government trying to use some sort of mind altering/scrambling device on her from a nearby building.
